Hollywood Stories: Short, Entertaining Anecdotes about the Stars and Legends of the Movies! by Stephen Schochet Genres:Nonfiction, History, Humor |
I am so very glad that I signed up for this book tour. This is not a book that I would normally choose for myself. Yet, I enjoyed it immensely.
Imagine Tinseltown in its heyday. When movie stars were glamorous, mysterious, and extremely underpaid by today's standards. With entertaining anecdotes, the author gives his readers a glimpse behind the scenes of many classic movies. From historical tidbits that was the inspiration behind movies, to casting choices that may surprise you.
I think one of my favorite anecdotes was that OJ Simpson had been considered for the role of The Terminator but no one could picture him as a killer. Especially when you think about the fact that they guy they COULD picture as a killer ended up as Governor of California!
There were some editing issues. Spaces in strange places, like the middle of words. Sentences or lines repeated twice in a row. It may be an issue with formatting for the Kindle, I'm not sure.
A cross between juicy hollywood gossip describing both affairs and cat fights and an educational look at stars that show they are just human beings under the glitz and fame. Enjoyable, entertaining, extraodinary and that's just the e's, funny, fantastic, flirtatious. All kidding aside, this is a great book and has inspired me to read more nonfiction that I might miss otherwise.
