Dragons guard the humans of the world. But who watches over the dragons? Throughout history 5 humans are appointed as Guardians to help out the dragons when needed. But when the Guardians were last called upon, one thousand years ago, all did not go as planned. Now, in modern day times, a group of high school students learn that they are the reincarnated souls of the Guardians and are being called upon to set things right.

This is a wonderful story for those who love dragons but are tired of them being conveyed as wretched, evil, eating machines that love to burn down towns, etc. We are given a bit of background as to the history of dragons within mythology and are introduced to five dragons who had allowed themselves to be trapped in order to seal two treacherous monsters within a circle of stones. This action, and the failure of the Guardians to defeat these monsters led to the extinction of dragons.

Each of the characters have exceptional strength of character, even though they may not all believe themselves to possess this important trait. A lot of times I play what if with book plots, what would I do in that situation? I just cannot imagine the bravery and courage that these children would need in order to rise to the occasion and defeat two monsters, knowing that they had tried before, in a previous life, and failed.

This is most definitely a very entertaining book that is fun to read and imagine a time when we lived side by side with real live dragons.

I give it 4 star review graphic 4 stars!
