     This book is a collection of anecdotes and witticisms and is currently a free Kindle ebook on Amazon. Great light reading for the weekend or on any day that might need to be brightened a bit. Even though I have a pretty decent sense of humor it takes something incredibly funny to make me chuckle out loud, but this book did quite a few times, in fact. Sometimes the humor is a bit quirky but Waldrep takes every day situations that can be frustrating normally and put a spin on it to make them seem comical.

Another Argument for Real Books Vs. Kindle

     My brother is fairly industrious, at least he tries to be. He has had several decent ideas in the past for assorted websites to create, though he seems to lack the motivation to market said sites after creating them. Yesterday he pitched a new idea to me by saying, "You know that electronics site that I buy from mainly because they accept bitcoins? There are several sites like it that each specialize in different items." I just look at him waiting for him to proceed. "There aren't any that sell books." Still no response as I wait for him to get to his point. "We should make one."

     Finally, I reply with, "Where would we get the money to buy stock? Theoretically, if we had reliable transportation, we could list the books and just go buy what we needed to fill an order, but we don't. We would need to have stock on hand."

Angel Evolution by David Estes Book 1 of The Evolution Trilogy

     This book should come with a warning label. CAUTION: Do not start unless you have a nice chunk of free time in your schedule because you will not want to put it down. Luckily for me, I had the house to myself and scheduled to laze by the fire with my Kindle while ignoring the snow flakes fluttering outside the window behind me.

     The heroine is intelligent and sassy. The bad guy is, well it's not obvious who the bad guy is, as both of the main male characters are likeable but mysterious. The story flows easily, never bogged down by slow passages.

     This book sounded a little morbid but I thought it was an interesting concept and had a different approach to history that deserved a try. This book was a lot different than I had expected.

     Be careful what you wish for. We have often heard it but who really stops and thinks about it before impetuously making a wish. I admit that I often do. Fate loves to play devil's advocate. You have to word wishes and prayers with more caution than a lawyer composing a contract. Beatrice just wishes for a change. Oh boy! Never leave it open to fate as to whether it is a good change or a bad one.

     This novella is short, entertaining, and thought provoking. I can't help but wonder how I would act in similar circumstances.

Darkness Under the Sun - Review

Darkness Under the Sun by Dean Koontz

     Howie Dugley was damaged. He was physycally damaged during a horrifying trauma when he was five. He was emotionally scarred to match the physical scars, not only from the trauma but from the tauntings he received daily from bullies. Howie was shy and a loner, trusting no one. Until he made a new friend. But that friend was not as he had expected.

     Koontz ... King ... Koontz ... King ... Saul ... There is no choosing a favorite. They are each masterful storytellers in their own style. Koontz weaves a suspenseful tale of a young boy's trust that is undeserved and quickly betrayed. Probably the scariest aspect is how easily this could be a true story.

     A very short book, well worth the hour it took to read. I believe this book was only published in the Kindle and audio versions.

The Friend Request by Alex Ford - Book Review

     If you aren't paranoid about giving out too much information on your facebook page, you should be. Alex Ford slaps us in the face with this story that points out how little privacy that we have in today's world, and it is at our own hands. How many personal items have you revealed on facebook thinking that only your FRIENDS would be bothered to read? How many people do you actually KNOW on your friends list? How often do you accept a friend request without actually knowing the person who sent it? These are all questions that we should ask ourselves.

Kindle vs. Real Books

     I have seen many arguments regarding the Kindle. Avid readers who proclaim that there is NO replacing real books and they would never use an e-reader of any sort. There really is no feeling like holding a book in your hands. The weight and smell of the paper is reassuring, and the Kindle cannot stand up in comparison.

     A good friend of mine gave me a Kindle for my birthday last year. I admit I must have just seemed ungrateful because I really had no desire for one. I never thought that I could ever enjoy reading on it, and did not see the point. But you know what? I love my Kindle. It is a LOT better for reading in bed. It only requires one hand to turn the page so I can lie on my side, relax with one arm under my head, or laze in just about any position, I don't have to lie on my back with the book propped on my chest and both hands holding it open. Also, when I start to doze off, the Kindle doesn't hurt half as much when it comes crashing down on my nose. I also don't need to worry about losing my place if I fall asleep while reading. I cannot recall how many times I have woke up in the morning to find my book closed on the floor and my bookmark next to me in my bed ... if I can find my book mark.

     I have finally finished syncing my Goodreads books with all of the Kindle books that I've acquired over the past year and still haven't read most of them. I also got some new books too, I just can't help myself! Of course I still have all of my bookshelves to go through too. UGH!

     I'm a reader, 3rd generation, and proud of it. There is no such thing as too many books. And if I must confess, there are very few books on all my bookshelves that have not been read.
